Recognition Programs

  • Breakfast for Champions
Established by the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, this program recognizes eighth-grade youth from across Nebraska for their excellence in sports, academics or leadership.
  • Good Neighbor Awards
Initiated in 1944, this statewide program, co-sponsored by the Omaha World-Herald, recognizes those who unselfishly place others before themselves. Individuals young and old, clubs and even entire communities have been singled out for recognition by their peers. Nominations are accepted year-around with the annual review date set for March 15 each year. Click here for a 2010 form.
  • Ike Friedman Leadership Awards
Named in honor of Isadore "Ike" Friedman, these awards honor individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership. Student recipients of the Ike Friedman Leadership award will be given a $2,000 scholarship and teacher recipients will be given a $1,000 monetary stipend.   • Pioneer Farm Family Awards
For more than 50 years, this program has honored farm families in Nebraska whose land has been owned by the same family for 100 years or more. To date, more than 8,000 families in all 93 Nebraska counties have been honored at various county fairs. Each honoree receives an engraved plaque and gatepost marker as permanent recognition of this milestone. Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation is the sponsor of the Pioneer Farm Awards and is supported by the Nebraska Association of Fair Managers. Program deadline each year is May 1st with plaques and gatepost markers being presented at the annual county fair in which the land is owned. Click here for a pdf of the form.
