Be A Volunteer
Volunteering for the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben Foundation started in 1885 when Omaha business leaders gathered together to make the Heartland a better place. Ever since then, the Foundation has depended on hundreds of volunteers each year to breathe life into its mission.
Thousands of hours are donated each year to various Foundation Programs. Just a sampling of opportunities and committee that are available for volunteers to make a difference on can be found below. Email

Programs
- Ak-Sar-Ben Friends - Serve as a board member of this membership organization and assist in raising scholarship and grant funds, as well as other state-wide projects.
- Ak-Sar-Ben Ambassador - Serve as an Ak-Sar-Ben liaison to your community by nominating individuals for scholarship, grants and other special awards. In addition, spread the good news of Ak-Sar-Ben in your hometown.
River City Rodeo & Stock Show
- Buckaroo Bash - Serve as a committee member of this event which raises funds to send underprivileged youth to the rodeo. In addition the event raises funds for the Omaha Mounted Patrol and injured cowboys.
- Purple Ribbon Auction - Serve as a committee member of this event which raises scholarship dollars for the champion 4-Hers during the Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Stock Show.
- Rough N Ready Rodeo - Serve as a volunteer at the event scheduled for Friday, September 23, 2011. The event provides a rodeo experience for disabled youths.
- Douglas County Fair - Serve as an event volunteer and work four hour shifts or consider serving as a Superintendent for various divisions at the Fair.
- River City Rodeo - Serve as a Trail Boss Volunteer leading an area of the event, such as the areas of PR, Happy Hour Events, Education, Volunteers, etc. Or if a short time commitment is more your style, consider volunteering for the annual four-day event in September.
- Ak-Sar-Ben Buyer's Club - Aid in raising scholarship funds to benefit 4-H'ers who attend the World's Largest 4-H Only Livestock Show.
